EV Platforms

For those of you that are building custom electric vehicles.  Here is a little blog about some of the platforms for a custom electric vehicle. Their are several very stable and economic high quality platforms.  A platform can either be a brand new vehicle, a recycled used vehicle a production vehicle or a high end vehicle kit.  Used vehicles are stripped of their internal combustion engines and replaced with an electric drive train.  A platform does not have to be a production car and in many cases is not a production vehicle at all.  Platform vehicles give the option of single or fleet vehicle production.

Sports Platforms

Designed for long range and high performance this type of EV is the highest in its class. All electric drive trains with high end flashy sports platforms.

  • Both high performance and longest ranges
  • 50-250 mile range
  • 0-60mph in less than 8 seconds
  • 4-6 hour fast charging times
  • Top highway speeds: 120+ MPH
  • Drive train mileage: 300,000+ miles
  • All electric drive trains
  • 3 year battery warranty

Long range high performance EV

Designed for medium range and average performance this EV is used for local transportation. Lithium medium range all electric drive trains. Perfect for the commuter and city fleet vehicles. This is usually the most economical electric vehicle solution.

  • Average performance and medium range
  • 50-150 mile range
  • 0-60mph in less than 12 seconds
  • 9-12 hour charging times
  • Top highway speeds: 100+ MPH
  • Expected drive train mileage: 200,000+ miles
  • All electric drive trains
  • 3 year battery warranty / life

Average range and performance EV

Designed for medium range and average performance this EV is used for local transportation. Lithium medium range all electric drive trains. Perfect for the commuter and city fleet vehicles. This is usually the most economical electric vehicle solution.

  • Average performance and medium range
  • 50-150 mile range
  • 0-60mph in less than 12 seconds
  • 9-12 hour charging times
  • Top highway speeds: 100+ MPH
  • Expected drive train mileage: 200,000 miles
  • All electric drive trains
  • 3 year battery warranty / life

Short range EV

The short range electric vehicle is designed for full highway speeds with shorter ranges. These vehicles contain lithium or lead based energy storage and are the most economical EVs on the road today.

  • Short range with average performance
  • Easily obtainable highway speeds
  • 30 – 50 mile range
  • 0-60mph in less than 20 seconds
  • 10-12 hour charging times
  • Top highway speed: 90+ MPH
  • Expected drive train mileage: 175,000+ miles
  • All electric drive train
  • 2 year battery warranty

Neighborhood electric vehicles

The Neighborhood Electric Vehicle otherwise known as an NEV is a United States Department of Transportation classification for speed-limited battery electric vehicle. These vehicles are not designed for highway speeds but can achieve moderate to long ranges at lower speeds. Because these vehicles draw much less power during charging it is much more achievable to use solar or wind power to generate the electricity for these vehicles.

These type of vehicles are some of the easiest and most efficient to build.  They provide transportation for a variety of industries and because they are lower in weight than a conventional vehicle they can be built for relatively long ranges.

  • Adequate range and performance
  • Similar to a golf cart but with higher speeds
  • More power than golf cart & longer ranges
  • No safety features such as airbags or seat belts
  • 50 – 150 mile range
  • 0-25mph in less than 30 seconds
  • 8-12 hour charging times
  • Top speeds: 25 MPH
  • Expected drive train mileage: 100,000+ miles
  • All electric drive train
  • 3 year battery warranty

Amorphous solar powered EV

Amorphous silicon completely solar powered electric vehicles are not production cars yet. We are working on several concept vehicles and energy storage technology to improve the range and performance of completely solar electric cars. This technology is evolving rapidly.
